Law Soh Ying

Elaine Law, our Partner, graduated with Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Master of Laws (in International Commercial Law) from University of Leicester, UK. She obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) in 2002.

She was called to the Malaysian Bar on 4th September, 2003 and commenced her legal practice with a reputable law firm in Kuala Lumpur in the litigation department, where she handled litigation portfolio until mid-2006. She then moved to corporate practice since mid-2006 and subsequently joined the corporate and commercial department in another reputable law firm in Kuala Lumpur for more than 14 years prior to joining the Firm.

Elaine’s areas of practice encompass capital markets, corporate and commercial, personal data protection and intellectual property laws.

She has advised on IPOs in Malaysia and acted as Malaysian counsel for IPO on the Catalist board of the Singapore Exchange. She has vast experience in legal due diligence exercise, acquisition of companies and businesses, advising both multinational and domestic companies on various commercial agreements (including joint venture arrangements, collaboration agreements, shareholders’ agreements, sale and supply agreements, distribution agreements, management agreements, etc.), and advising foreign companies in the setting up of business and establishments in Malaysia and foreign investment rules.
Elaine is a registered trade mark agent and currently a member of the Bar Council Personal Data Protection Committee and also a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM). She also sits on few public listed companies in Malaysia as Independent Non-Executive Director.
